First instituted in 1831 by King William IV. It was redesigned in 1848 with the ‘man-of-war’ on the reverse. The Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was awarded for 15 years service of irreproachable conduct, with additional 15 year periods receiving a bar.
Approximately 5,000 have been issued to Australians.
