The Boxer Rebellion or Third China War, as it was known, saw the commitment of a Naval Brigade from Australia to assist in crushing the ‘Boxers’. Since Federation of Australia was yet to occur (1901) this Naval Brigade was comprised of NSW, VIC and Sth Aust, contingents.

Approximately 550 were issued to Australians.
