Instituted in 1909 by King Edward VII and struck in silver. The medal was awarded to Warrant Officers, Non Commissioned Officers and men of the permanent forces for 18 years service of good conduct. Approximately 700 were issued to Australians before the medal’s discontinuance in 1934. It was replaced with military Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
